Basic stir-fry sauce

Tired of using packaged mystery powders for making my Asian sauces, I am now on a quest for the bare-bones from-scratch sauce recipes. The following one worked well in a couple of simple stir fries:

- 1/2 cup broth
- 1 Tbsp corn starch
- 2 tsp soy sauce

Tofu cooked in this tasted well, which is a good sign. Certainly, adding garlic or ginger to the sauce can only help; some chilis can crank up the heat, if desired.
